The Challenge
Oohh’s & Aahh’s, a beloved soul food brand with 21 years of legacy, was feeling stale and ready for a rebrand that reflected its rich history and elevated presence in the community. With two locations already open and a third planned for Virginia, they wanted to increase visibility, drive more foot traffic, and strengthen customer loyalty. Despite being located in a high-traffic area, many potential customers were unaware of the restaurant's presence, even after six years in the same location. Their social media lacked strategy and variety, relying heavily on food photos and static flyers, which resulted in low engagement. They rarely received more than 20–30 likes per post and minimal comments. Additionally, they had a robust email list of over 32,000 subscribers but weren’t leveraging it to build anticipation, communicate brand moments, or drive customer action. The brand had also never hosted activations to connect with their audience in meaningful, in-person ways besides the Grand Opening.
The Solution
To revitalize Oohh’s & Aahh’s after 21 years in business, we executed a full-scale rebrand and strategic marketing plan that honored their legacy while refreshing their presence for modern audiences. This began with a redesigned website integrated through their new Popmenu platform, optimized for user experience and visual appeal. We coordinated updated signage and an interior repaint, introducing a green-themed upstairs and warm tan downstairs to reflect the new brand color palette and breathe life into the space.
We increased community engagement through consistent content creation, social media management, email marketing, and influencer partnerships, resulting in a 2,000% boost in engagement and 2,000 new followers in just six months. We curated 12 unique activations featuring cultural figures like comedian Red Grant, PRocon, and influencers such as Khadijah Corrie, Dira the Doll, and Andy the Boss, driving increased foot traffic and strengthening the restaurant’s connection to its customer base. Additionally, we led a commercial shoot, secured a sponsorship with PRocon, and positioned the restaurant as a cultural hub in the heart of D.C.
